Godsend Part I, II, and III (Kindle Edition) Priced at $3.99 each in Amazon

The e-book that will tell the official story of the Theros block will be called Godsend, Part I and is authored by Jenna Helland. It is now available in Amazon for a price of $3.99. There are no available images for the ebook yet. The two follow-up novels to complete the official story of the Theros Block are now also in there. Born of the Gods: Godsend, Part II and Journey into Nyx: Godsend, Part III are available for pre-order.  Godsend Part II's publisher date by WOTC is April 22, 2014 while Godsend Part III has a May 13, 2014 date. Both novels, along with Theros: Godsend, Part I, are all written by Jenna Helland.

Amazon link to Part II and Part III.

The publish date is April 1, 2014, which is also April Fool's Day. This of course does not necessarily mean a joke by WOTC.

According to Doug Beyer, Jenna Helland also wrote a story about the last days of Elspeth on New Phyrexia as she goes to Theros. It will also be released soon as an Uncharted Realms story.

Moreover, according to the Mothership, Jenna works for WOTC in Seattle, Washington as a writer and a designer. She wrote "The Cloudbreaker" in The Shadowmoor Anthology, The Planeswalker's Guide to Alara (with Doug Beyer), Path of the Planeswalker (with Brady Dommermuth and Doug Beyer), and The Fanged Crown.

STOCKING TIGER - 2013 Holiday Promo Card + Temple of Enlightenment, of Malice, and of Plenty

The Mothership has officially began the Holidays with their 2013 Holiday Promo Card: STOCKING TIGER. While it is indeed a fun card, it doesn't seem playable at all if you don't have any booster packs. But if you do have any, it'd be awesome. In addition, A CAT CONSTRUCT! They have finally arrived.

The artwork was done by Terese Neilsen and here is the full version:

According to user Ceth from MTGS, the remaining two scry dual lands sporting the Azorius and Selesnya colors are included in Born of the Gods (BNG). The Azorius scry land's art shows merchants preparing for trade, while the Selesnya scry land's art has some grass and animal on it.

In addition, Ceth also stated that there were multicolored creatures in the expansion and that there were cards in BNG that are supposed to affect or even make Modern even better with two unmentioned specific tribal creatures being pinpointed out.

The mothership just released the traditional Oracle of Salvation for Born of the Gods, and the guys at MTGS are at it to look at some possible cards.

It seems obvious that dual-color lands will be in the set, and three "temples" have been supposedly identified so far:

Temple of Enlightenment
Land

Temple of Enlightenment enters the battlefield tapped. When Temple of Enlightenment enters the battlefield, scry 1.
Tap: Add W or U to your mana pool.

Temple of Malice

Temple of Malice enters the battlefield tapped. When Temple of Malice enters the battlefield, scry 1.
Tap: Add B or R to your mana pool.

Temple of Plenty

Tap: Add G or W to your mana pool.

BNG, JIN Preview - Heroic Path + XENAGOS GOD ART + ELVISH MYSTIC as Februrary 2014 FNM Promo

While we are all aware of Xenagos, the Reveler (which I actually like since not only is he a slightly affordable planeswalker, but it reminds me about the good ol' days of beast decks in the Onslaught block) as a planeswalker, the mothership has also revealed new artworks for him. This also serves as a sneak peek of what the remaining two sets, Born of the Gods and Journey into Nyx, of the Theros Block has in store for us. And yes, his GOD VERSION. Not only is he looking like being born from a mountain, you can also clearly see that he's in battle against Ajani and Elspeth. What is Ajani doing there? We'll find out soon enough.

Xenagos God Art (Born of the Gods)

Xenagos God Art (Journey into Nyx)

A planeswalker turned god? Yes? No?
It's that time of the Theros block again wherein players going to the prerelease tournaments must choose their heroic path based on their favourite mana colour.

For Born of the Gods, each color represents:
WHITE - Destined to Lead
BLUE - Destined to Outwit
BLACK - Destined to Dominate
RED - Destined to Conquer
GREEN - Destined to Thrive

And, according to MTG Realm, each "seeded" PR pack will have the following:
- 1 Seeder booster pack
- The (traditional) Premium Foil PR Promo Card
- 1 Activity Card
- 1 Spindown Life Counter
- 1 Welcome Letter
- 1 Hero Card
- 2 Born of the Gods Booster Packs
- 3 Theros Booster Packs

Coming in from the mothership, it looks like the good ol' elves are at it again to get the spotlight as the FNM prize for February next year. Elvish Mystic is of course the long-lost twin brother of Llanowar Elves. So what do you guys think of the art? I actually like the both of them. The FNM version seems like the more "mana-giving" between them though, and he really looks like a 1/1. I can imagine the original version's illustration as a 2/1 or even a 2/2. Anyway, here is the full illustration of the FNM version of Elvish Mystic by Winona Nelson:

BNG: Game Day Challenge "BATTLE THE HORDE" + Foil Promo KARAMETRA'S ACOLYTE + WARLEADER'S HELIX as January 2014 FNM Promo

According to the mothership, the sixth challenge on the Hero's Path is to "BATTLE THE HORDE". Who didn't enjoy that hydra challenge for the Theros Game Day? The Born of the Gods Game Day will be next year from March 1-2. So get yourself (and your money) ready to fight the horde! Also, we hope that you will have fun with the hero cards you will be getting.

Ready to purchase this year's Holiday Gift Box? Worry not, since this sweet foil is enough to be the reason for you buying it. The art definitely does not disappoint compared to the original version. I could see this card in mana ramp, though it won't go well with an Elfball deck because it is a human druid, In addition, if you've ever wondered what exactly an acolyte is in the real world, here's a summary:

"In many Christian denominations, an acolyte is anyone who performs ceremonial duties such as lighting altar candles. In others, the term is used for one who has been inducted into a particular liturgical ministry, even when not performing those duties.
The word acolyte is derived from the Greek word ἀκόλουθος (akolouthos), meaning an attendant, via Late Latin acolythus." (source)

Fans of Lightning Helix and its big brother will love the foil promo card for January 2014. Would you just look at those platinum/steel armor plating? And those dark angel wings? And with Ravnica as the background, it'd be nice to have it on your binder. Remember, Boros Deck Wins is always a good aggro deck to play in whatever format, well, perhaps not for Legacy.

M14 Ultra Pro Playmats - Scourge of Valkas, Thorncaster Sliver, and a Paladin + EXPERIMENT ONE as FNM Promo for September

From slivers to dragons to paladins, M14 has got them all! Check out these awesome Ultra Pro playmats.
Personally, I like the one with the redhead angel. Anyway, the M14 full spoiler is about to be unveiled on the mothership soon! Check out what WOTC will offer to the players, old and new. There's always time to play Magic: The Gathering. It seems that old creature types will finally get some serious attention.

Does it look human? Sure, it definitely looks like an ooze but it's sort of like a merman ooze. Or whatever. Still, a pretty decent card September's FNM. Evolution, baby! Charles Darwin, yeah! Also, the Simic guild seems to be active once again with its experimentation and mutations, giving out more brute force and versatility for the guild.

M14 Spoiler: Garruk, Caller of the Beasts + Limited Edition Collection + Xathrid Necromancer, Banisher Priest, and Fiendslayer Paladin

Kevin Ohannessian:

Wizards of the Coast has revealed to MTV Geek that at Hasbro ToyShop in San Diego Comic-Con they will be offering a limited edition collection of "Magic: The Gathering" 2014's Planeswalker cards. The five cards will be presented with unique black-on-black art by Steve Prescott, variants of those found in the core Magic 2014 set. Below you will find both the Magic 2014 and the SDCC version of Garruk.

Digging the necromancer! It seems that tribal themes are back, don't you think? Slivers, humans?
In addition, Banisher Priest is there to be the walking exiler for you. And for those white weenie decks that despise red and black, Fiendslayer Paladin is there to save the day! I don't actually see how Xathrid Necromancer would be great to use, but it would surely see some fun in casual play as there could always be an Orzhov human aggro deck.

Banisher Priest is probably one of the best 2/2s that white has to offer, aside from Silver Knight against goblins, White Knight against black, and Knight of the Holy Nimbus to annoy opponents. Oh, and there's Knight of Meadowgrain to gain some early life points. This human cleric is simply like an Oblivion Ring on a stick, though it only exiles a fellow creature. Nonetheless, the opponent has to shock this one before getting his/her creature back.

Speaking of knights, Fiendslayer Paladin has one of the coolest artworks I've seen. His weapon looks like a lightsaber. This is definitely a great card to use against Rakdos or goblins or zombies or any deck that has red burn spells or black removal spells. It has both first strike and lifelink, and giving it some +1/+1 counters or just temporary power-ups can make this a heavy-hitter.

Magic 2014 [M14] Spoiler - Basic Lands + IDW Comic featuring Deck Fayden going to Theros

That's right. The basic lands for M14 have been discovered at Grand Prix Vegas. What do you guys think of the artworks? Personally, I like the swamps. Next would be the mountains. I don't know, a couple of them are really quite spectacular. The forests and the islands are okay, they're always good to the eyes. Plains? Plain.

It seems that Dack Fayden has been hanging out with the pirates, or whatever. Anyway, he's going to spend some time in Theros. Pretty exciting stuff for the supposedly Greek Mythology-esque upcoming block. He does remind me of Izzet, especially with his clothing and the fact that he is in some sort of vessel. May his journey be fruitful. And let's hope that he doesn't get into a fight with some gods or goddesses.

[M14] Spoiler: Advocate of the Beast, Enlarge, Archangel of Thune, Mutavault, and Shimmering Grotto

Well, it does make sense that Mutavault would be there, since the slivers would be back in M14. I remember the first time I saw one of the returns of slivers, which was way back during the release of Legions in the Onslaught block. From MTGS user TK-421 (these are obviously not the M14 versions of the cards though. They're just there for those who are not familiar with the cards.): "... Mutavault and Shimmering Grotto are in."

Three new cards for M14! Hurray.

Enlarge is actually a really fun card to use. Sure, an opponent's creature has to block it, but hey! That +7/+7 and trample ability sure is nifty. Also, giant cat. Moving on, Advocate of the Beast reminds me of Wirewood Savage. Oh, Onslaught days. Those were my days. Anyway, it's a reaaaally good card for a common. Let's just see how many useful beasts there are in M14, and/or in Theros. Finally, Archangel of Thune seems pretty weak because it's a 3/4 for five mana, but with a lifelink and flying ability, not to mention the fact that it can easily pump all your creatures, it would be fun to use somehow. Especially if your deck has Wall of Hope, or any other easy life gainer.

[M14] Game Day Champion Playmat - Chandra + From The Vault: Twenty Box Art

Does it look to realistic? No? Get ready for M2014's Game Day! What about the chain mail she's wearing? Or her eyes? Are we criticizing her looks too much? Which planeswalker do you think will be the face of M15? Garruk or Ajani? How about Liliana? The Lorwyn Five have definitely been a staple in Standard play, and we can't wait for further developments regarding their stories.

For fans of the FTV: Twenty product, the box art has just been released! Looking classy, right? But seriously as a fan of any shades of blue I am digging this one. Of course, we should probably expect by now that the prices of each card in this product are going to be high, since demand must be so great that they just had to deliver new copies.

Magic 2014 [M14] Intro Packs + Garruk's Horde and Chandra's Phoenix + Judge Promos "Show and Tell" and "Overhwhelming Forces"

The mothership has finally shown what the M14 intro packs look like. Here are the ones which show Garruk's Horde and Chandra's Phoenix. I think Timmy players will love this green intro pack simply because M14 would intend to introduce Magic to new players, and the color is famous for big creatures. The red intro pack would also be fun to new players since it would be an aggro deck and I've personally began playing with green/red beasts and eventually into a green elf deck back in Onslaught.

Always a fan of this card. It's good for casual play, especially with mana accelerators to pull down that big beater in a jiffy.

It's like Hell's Thunder, only smaller. But hey, it can come back every time you use Lightning Bolt, Rift Bolt, Shock, Sudden Shock, or even Shrapnel Blast directly to your opponent.

One of the most infamous cards, Show and Tell, is one of the MTG Judge promos! Hurray. Additionally, Damnation-for-your-opponents-only + card advantage Overwhelming Forces is also a promo. Really good art for the both of them. But of course I dig Show and Tell's more. A question I would like to pose though, is whether you would prefer Damnation or the more costly but advantageous Overwhelming Forces/ I suppose it's a situational thing.

[M14] Spoiler - Intro Pack + Ajani's Chosen, Jace's Mindseeker, and Liliana's Reaver

The mothership has just released all of the intro packs for M14. Here is a decent card for white weenie, or any aggro deck. Would love to use this in casual play. In addition, keep in mind that knights are making a comeback in M14, and it would be nice to see players reminiscing the glory days of White Knight and Silver Knight, though those two are not going to appear in the core set. Moreover, hopefully people would find some decent use for Ajani since Jace seems to getting all the attention, with Garruk and Liliana a distant second and third.

It would be nice to use this with, perhaps, those cards which remove the creature from play and then have it return before the end of the turn. I am reminded of Astral Slide and Lightning Rift decks, but that's not the one. Or is it? Anyway, pretty fun card. Kinda related to this, will we ever see Jace not getting an additional version? He really seems to be getting the love in the serious format, and The Mind Sculptor is matching the price of Tarmogoyf. Well, there should at least be some other planeswalkers that get the same usage in Standard, Modern, or even other older formats.

An okay addition to zombie decks. The token-generating ability along with discard are also bonus points. Moreover, Xathrid Necromancer is also in M14, and it creates additional 2/2 tokens out of humans. Will there be some combination of humans and zombies in a possible Orzhov aggro? Overall, these M14 intro packs are meant for casual play, and the rares in them are not going to see the light of day in Standard. Event decks, on the other hand, provide players with a readily competitive deck in the format.

[M14] Duels of the Planeswalkers Promo Booster Pack for Xbox Live - Bonescythe Sliver

For the sliver fans, and for those who would play DOTP 2014 with Xbox Live, you will all get a 6-card promotional booster pack, with Bonescythe Sliver inside! For those who have played Magic for some time, doesn't it look like some alien out of Aliens VS Predators? The old slivers really did not have a face, and they were seemingly unemotional creatures which only seemed to want to give each brethren a ability or two. Even the Sliver Queen was a WUBRG that brought our more faceless slivers. Which look do you guys prefer?

It is actually fun to see that the rare in the special six card booster pack is shown. It would be funny if all booster packs had that kind of design, ensuring that you would get that Tarmogoyf or Jace, the Mind Sculptor in no time. Anyway, it is nice to see that Wizards of the Coast is trying its best to reach players who are use different platforms and attracting them to play the game with actual, physical cards. Let's see how their marketing and promotion turns out.

source: The Mothership

[M14] Duels of the Planeswalkers [DOTP] Promo Booster Pack for PS3: Ogre Battledriver

For the PS3 users of Magic 2014 DOTP, you will all get this 6-card promotional booster pack, all of which would include Ogre Battledriver! An okay card for an aggro deck, perhaps in casual play it would see the light of day. Doesn't it seem weird that ogres and minotaurs have been in Magic for a long time and they have yet to make an impact in Standard? Perhaps they were meant to stay in casual play. Perhaps, they could appear in a strong wave through the mythology-filled Theros block?

Wizards of the Coast has had an aggressive marketing team with their DOTP game. And it is working as players around the world are trying to get their hands on the promos. Maybe they could also finally return novels and add in some promo cards? Or ideally, release a really good film adaptation and players who buy a movie ticket to see it will get some cool foil card relevant to the plot? There are a lot of platforms that Magic: The Gathering is currently in, and it would seem wise for WOTC to capitalize on them.

Magic 2014 [M14] Duels of the Planeswalkers [D14] Promo Booster Packs for Android, Steam, and iPad Platforms (Scavenging Ooze)

For all those acquiring M14 - Duels of the Planeswalkers, you will all be getting a promotional booster pack, all of them to include the M14 version of Scavenging Ooze! Wizards of the Coast has been giving a rabid marketing campaign, including for those willing to play DOTP in their PS3 and Xbox360. Now, even Apple and Android users can have fun with planeswalkers. In addition, there will also be a Steam version for those who worship Gaben. This is probably the best promo card for DOTP 2014, compared to the sliver and the ogre for the Xbox and PlayStation platforms.

The art for Scavenging Ooze actually reminds me of slivers. Anyway, we'll have to wait and see what the next Duels of the Planeswalkers has in store for those wanting more of these kind of promos. The sad thing about this, though, is that not all countries would have them. Personally, I feel that those in Asia and Africa are left out, which seems weird because of the growing MTG communities there. Perhaps a look beyond the big markets such as the United States, Europe, and Japan would provide others a chance to have these.

Modern Masters [MM]: Second Wave of Packs Confirmed + "Sword of Fire and Ice" Ultra Pro Playmat

Kane49 from MTGS:

Hi !
I just got an email declaring that i will only be receiving 1 of my 9 preordered boxes, since i kew what i was getting into thats fine.
However in that same email it was confirmed that there WILL BE a second Wave of Modern Masters incoming in a few weeks.
Seems like Wizards is doing the smart thing, test the waters with a limited release and and release another wave when they know how big the release should be to prevent a Chronicles desaster

Since all the cards in Modern Masters have already been spoiled, here's a great-looking playmat for those who will be at GP Las Vegas 2013. Yup, the great Sword of Fire and Ice from the Mirrodin Block. I really feel old. Will all of the swords appear? It seems that this one got the most attention back in the day. Moreover, what about Kaldra? If any of you still remember, there was a legendary sword, helmet, and shield for Kaldra, which were released during the Mirrodin block as a promo foil for joining the prerelease tournaments.

M14 Spoiler - Child of Night, Chandra's Outrage, Rumbling Baloth, Quag Sickness, Claustrophobia, and Pacifism

The lifelinker Child of Night is back in M14! Aside from this, Chandra's Outrage and green's Rumbling Baloth have also been confirmed. Interestingly, Rumbling Baloth reminds me of Ravenous Baloth, once of the decent life-gainer beasts back in Onslaught. I feel old. However, it actually feels nice to see beasts in the core set, as they have been around in casual play, though they made an appearance back in Legions because of the great amplify ability during the Onslaught block.

For fans of Pacism with the Akroma art, be saddened!  Well, it seems that they once again officially chose that, err, that art for the card. But hey, it's still a good staple card for sets like M14. Aside from this, as someone who has Claustrophobia, I am not sure if I want to see that card. In addition, monoblack deck users will be glad to know that Quag Sickness is also in M14. If white also gets oblivion ring, then it could be having a good time in limited with cheap removal and control spells.

Modern Masters Spoiler - Perilous Research, Dampen Thought, Street Wraith, Imperiosaur, and Moldervin Cloak

A thing worth noting here is that all three cards have been downgraded to common. Surely, the power level in Modern Masters is pretty hight. Anyway, Dampen Though is a cheap milling card, while Perilous Research reminds me of , well, Compulsive Research from Ravnica, maybe because of the word "research". In addition, Street Wraight from Future Sight (you know, the set that had Tarmogoyf) is back! A free draw, with that 2 life to pay barely a disadvantage if you're looking to win the game early, set-up a combo, or control the board early.

This is exciting! Imperiosaur and Moldervine Cloak have both been downgraded to common in Modern Masters! A 5/5 for four mana with no real drawbacks? How great limited play must be this time. In addition, ain't it nice to still see the Golgari emblem in Moldervine Cloak despite MM not being a Ravnica-exclusive set? Green seems to be roaring with Modern Masters, implying how much brute force they can produce for little mana.
