[M15] Spoiler: Genesis Hydra from PAX 2014

Genesis Hydra PAX 2014

For those who couldn't read the card text clearly, Genesis Hydra is a 0/0 rare Plant Hydra that costs XGG, having this ability:

"When you cast Genesis Hydra, reveal the top X cards of your library. You may put a nonland permanent card with converted mana cost X or less from among them onto the battlefield. Then shuffle the rest into your library.

Genesis Hydra enters the battlefield with X +1/+1 counters o it."

Genesis Wave M15

Basically, we have a Genesis Wave attached on a creature. An intriguing note is whether ElfBall decks are going to replace Wave with the Hydra. I too play ElfBall in my casual plays, and I think I would be testing this one first. Genesis Wave particularly works well with elves because it can allow all my elves to get into play (key cards would be Heritage Druid), not to mention the ultimate finisher of the deck that is Emrakul. The plant hydra of M15, on the other hand, allows me to pick one of the cards revealed (ideally, Emrakul) and have an ideally massive creature aside from that Eldrazi.

Quick trivia: George Fan, the designer of Genesis Hydra, is also a designer for Plants VS Zombies.

DRAGON PRIEST: Hearthstone's Latest Legendary Shadowform Priest Deck

Malygos Holy Smite HearthstoneGetting tired of playing or playing against Huntards? How about Watcher or Ramp or Token Druids? Afraid to battle against a Control Warrior? Ever want to not battle against Zoolock or Handlock anymore? Well, while Hearthstone is still very much all about the Face Hunter and Zoolock, there still is a sign of hope that the game has not gone stale. Here comes the arrival of redditor Slurmz's "Dragon Priest" deck which just hit legendary. He has apparently been perfecting the deck for a month now, so much so that it has a win rate of over 80% against Hunters. According to Slurmz, the general objective is like that of Ramp Druid, wherein board control is of the necessity. Shadowform is used against control decks, while keeping the life total up is for aggro decks. Moreover, Holy Smite is one of the key cards in Dragon Priest, as it is a cheap damage spell that works well with Spell Damage, especially that of Prophet Velen and Malygos (hence, dragon).
Prophet Velen Dragon Priest Deck

Power Word: Shield is used similar to cycling in Magic: The Gathering. It is used to dig for more useful cards, aside from giving better defense especially with a five-turn 3/7 Senjin drop. Additionally, Mind Blast is deemed as "the great finisher" as it also works well with all the Spell Damage creatures, especially with Prophet Velen and Malygos as having both in play makes Mind Blast a 20 damage spell for two mana. Shadow Word: Pain is used to hinder the enemy from acquiring board control, while Bloodmage Thalnos can be used to distract the opponent, especially with its Spell Damage and card-drawing abilities, with the former making Holy Smite and Mind Blast a bit stronger than usual. Shadow Mandness, meanwhile, is for dealing with Zoo and also synergizes well with Wild Pryromancer.

Shadowform Legend Priest Deck

Speaking of that, Wild Pyromancer is one of the best cards for board control, as it can be used with your other cheap spells to clear the opponent's board. Power Word: Shield can be used to make the Pyromancer stay a bit longer for more removal. In tandem with Wild Pyro for dealing with multiple creatures is Holy Nova. Shadow Word: Death is for helping the deck prepare for its late finishing move. Additionally, Shadowform is considered as the deck's primary ramp tool as it allows for an advantage against Control. One great thing about it is that you don't really have to use it immediately and stay with your healing ability. Another is that it works well with Prophet Velen. Amusingly, your hero power resets when you use it, so you can actually heal and then use it to deal two damage, or deal two damage (already using Shadowform) then cast another Shadowform for an additional three damage in the same turn, all for seven mana. Sen'jin Shieldmasta is the great 3/5 Taunt creature that is deemed "extremely important" for providing time to gather the combo pieces. Moving on, Azure Drake is the smallest dragon in the deck, but allows both card advantage and spell damage. Faceless Manipulator, meanwhile, is ideally used for Malygos or Prophet Velen in the late game to provide extra deadly damage. Holy Fire is considered as the most important heal spell, aside from the five damage is produces, not to mention its synergy with Velen. It is also essential when you have used Shadowform. The Divine Shield + Taunt Sunwalker is also in the Dragon Priest deck to deal with aggro, hunter, and/or zoo.

Gold Alexstrasza Priest Deck

Prophet Velen is an amazing creature in this deck that works well with a lot of cards. It allows for a quick increase of four life points through the Priest's hero power, or a quick lethal with Shadowform. It has to be remembered though that the damage dealt is doubled only after spell damage. Ragnaros the Firelord is also in the deck to bring the offensive, and should be dropped first among all the late game finishers because there is no combo for it, and also since you want your opponent to use all of his/her removal spells immediately before Velen or Malygos enters the field. Another dragon in the deck is the legendary Alexstrasza which will likely be the first legendary card to be played. It is supposedly normally used on the enemy because there is a great likelihood that the opponent still has a lot of life points even in the late game simply because the decks lacks consistent cards to deal damage early on. A word of caution is that using it on yourself on desperate accounts can still prove to be a bad thing as it removes a huge chance to win the game. Finally, Malygos is of course the most badass dragon in the deck, giving you an almost certain win if it isn't dealt with in one turn. As much as possible, it should not be killed as it is essential for the combo with Prophet Velen.

Dragon Shadowform Priest Legend Deck

While it is indeed a new, very creative deck, it isn't exactly something that everyone has the resource to. From Ragnaros to Bloodmage to Velen to Malygos, it would cost similarly to Ramp Druid and Control Warrior. Finally, Slurmz provides two videos that will show how the deck is used. First one is against Noxious, while the other is from his point of view. <source>

Hearthstone Feels: When You Were About To Win But Didn't

Bloodlust Warcraft Screenshot

We've all been there.

You were one damage away from winning in Arena or in Ranked or even in Casual. You had fourteen or so life points left. Unexpectedly, your Hunter opponent casts a Leeroy Jenkins and then a Faceless Manipulator to copy that Leeroy, dealing twelve damage, aside from the final two coming from Rexxar's shot. Or, you may have been one attack away from victory, but next turn your opponent was able to cast Defender of Argus and make two taunt-ed creatures. And perhaps, just perhaps, your opponent who mostly only had 1/1s in play had a trick up his/her sleeve. Just like what redditor YJLTG had. But with a couple of surprises for the priest. Check out the thread here.

How Lucky Can Your [Opponent's] Mindgames Be? How About A Double Ragnaros?

We have probably watched a lot of amazing Ragnaros battles, especially those of Amaz the Priest (he must not play Rogue again!). Here is another video that shows how much skill matters in Hearthstone. And the conclusion is that not much skill is required when compared with RNG. If I were him, I wouldn't even be mad either. Casting two Mindgames on Arena mode, and getting Ragnaros the Firelord on both occasions is utterly mind-boggling.

"You're as beautiful as the day I lost you." New How To Train Your Dragon 2 Trailer!

Sometimes, the short duration of trailers are long enough to reveal the whole plot. While others might complain about this second trailer which apparently shows too much about the sequel, some would defend the trailer and note that families and kids are the intended audience. Additionally, we should not judge the movie this soon. What if the trailer actually intended to show all of those revelations so that we, the audience, would not expect how things would really unravel? Anyway, the trailer basically shows Hiccup finally meeting his mother, and soon the family reunites, with Stoick the Vast saying "you're as beautiful as the day I lost you" to his wife. Also, baby dragons and a new enemy who plans to take control of all the dragons.

How to Speak Cat And The Upcoming Baby Translator

Today's blog post by Pusheen introduces us to the essentials of understanding the feline race. The first three are very familiar to me, except for the last. I have seen my father wave a little dead rat's tail in front of a cat, and damn there sure was naught a mouth-savoring moment experienced. The Nuh uh is a usual cat speak aside from the dreaded Nope. It is a silent form of communication, the Nope, and you can really feel the tension and cat resistance when you try to move him/her (rest in peace, pillows or blankets or sofas). Finally, I would probably be confused whether the Absolutely not move is real denial, or an actual form of sweetness. Because cat scratches are a sign of love.

Moving to another webcomic universe, SMBC has unveiled the baby translator, though it is only available in English for now. Still, would you look at that, it really is something. Humans are animals, after all, and there's nothing as cute as a baby being honest about pooping and going for the mild version of Oedipus Rex.

Hearthstone's Curse of Naxxramas Gives Jaina Proudmore New Hero Skill: "Voodoo Hex"

It's not actually a mere coincidence that Hearthstone announced its first adventure mode, Curse of Naxxramas a couple of days before the boxing fight between Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley. We are already aware of the fact that Curse will be bringing thirty new cards, with a portion of them being class-specific. Aside from that, five wings will be provided, with the first one free of charge for all Hearthstone players. There will also be battles that would test whether you are really familiar with the hero you're using. In line with that, we have uncovered that Jaina Proudmoore's battles in adventure mode has its own perks. Aside from a promised reward for defeating each boss, the Frost Bolt heroine will also have a new hero skill which was recently previewed by the mother of Manny Pacquiao himself, Dionisia. It can be clearly observed that she was doing some sort of spell, and our sources have confidently told us that it is indeed Voodoo Hex. Although it is a skill that seems to fit the Shaman class, it was given to the Mage class instead because Jaina and friends were in need of new and unique offerings in order for the players to give a positive review again.

Trance Sunday: ALY & FILA Providing Egyptian Trance

While EDM (Electronic Dance Music) has become a part of mainstream music thanks to the efforts of Avicii, David Guetta, and Zedd, among others, there are still a lot of DJs and/or producers that have yet to be recognized by the larger society. While they do excel in their own music fields, they are not as known as Axwell or Martin Garrix we are known for their "big room" hits. Well, it has to be known that electronic music does not have a single beat or harmony to it, and here, we talk about trance music.

Aly & Fila is made up of Aly Amr Fathalah and Fadi Wassef Naguib. They are the prominent icons of Egyptian trance music, with their 2011 track "We Control the Sunlight" being awarded as "Tune of the Year" by Armin Van Buuren himself on his show A State of Trance.

Moving on, "Eye of Horus" was their first track and received significant airplay, gaining popularity through the recognition of well known music artists such as Tiesto and Paul Van Dyk. Eventually, it peaked to the fourth spot in the Dutch Dance charts. Their success and fame can also be observed through their consistent appearance on DJ Mag's "Top 100 DJs" list, ranking 111th in 2007, 31st in 2008, 22nd in 2009, 20th in 2010, 22nd in 2011, 19th in 2012, and 20th in 2013.

Aly and Fila are also known for hosting their own Internet radio show entitled Future Sound of Egypt, which is also the name for the record label they created. They even celebrated the show's 200th episode by organizing an event in Egypt on December 2, 2011. Dance acts including John O'Callaghan and Sied Van Riel participated with the Egyptian trance duo as the event was held in Echo Temple, considered as one of the world's greatest outdoor clubs for trance music.

Finally, here's an epic playlist made by Aly and Fila:

Ready For A Job Interview?

Sometimes, we are all eager to get up in the morning and face the day with the knowledge that we are going to be successful. Sometimes, too, we take things too far in attempting to project a positive image of a good future-employee. Then again, job interviewers have a trick up their sleeves, and this might be one of them.

Why Millhouse Manastorm Is An Opponent's Favorite

Sometimes, Millhouse Manastorm is a powerhouse card, capable of landing on Turn 1 (given a coin or an Innervate) and dealing at least four damage to the opponent by the second turn. However, using this card is a risky thing to do, especially when you're up against spell-based decks that can be found in the Mage, Priest, Shaman, and Rogue classes. This particular video right here shows how a Millhouse can turn from a great second turn drop into an owner's nightmare, as in the case with the opponent being able to drop a 10/10. Well, there are worse scenarios than this. Imagine dropping a Manastorm on your second turn against a Mage in Arena mode, with your opponent's next turn ending (along with the game) with three Pyroblasts.

Spellcaster Dionisia Pacquiao and Her Voodoo Hex For Bradley

With Manny Pacquiao victorious and her wife, Jinkee, pleading for him to retire from boxing, we think that Dionisia should get some of the internet spotlight. Unsurprisingly, she and her unusual manner of praying instantly became viral. People around the world don't exactly know what she's doing, but they are happy with referring to it as "voodoo hex", "spell-casting", and even "death fingers". Additionally, it can be observed that Mommy Dionisia hugged Timothy Bradley after the fight, and this was regarded by some keen observers as her way of removing the voodoo hex from him. Anyway, one video is not enough, so have another:

And here's a GIF for all of you to enjoy, where you can clearly see spell's process, gradually going from wild energy to a concentrated, unorthodox middle finger:

How Much Do You Spend For A Movie Ticket? A Look At Ticket Prices By Country

Numbeo.com was kind enough to conduct a worldwide survey about the average price of movie tickets in each country. The surveys were performed from May 2011 to February 2014, with respondents being asked about the cost of a single ticket for an internationally-released movie. Unsurprisingly, Japan had tickets costing more than $17.50, while countries such as the Philippines were enjoying the cinemas with tickets priced in the $2.50-5.00 range. According to the site, Iran and Laos have the lowest-priced movie tickets, while Saudi Arabia was unexpectedly way ahead of other nations such as Switzerland, Norway, and Japan when it comes to the priciest tickets. Anyway, do not expect that these price ranges are all true for each and every country.

Here is a link to the ordered list of ticket prices by country, in descending order: Numbeo.

Fight Heigan the Unclean in Hearthstone's First Adventure Mode "Curse of Naxxramas"

Well, we can't really get enough of Hearthstone's upcoming adventure mode, Curse of Naxxramas not only because of the thirty new cards, but also because of the bosses we'll have to fight. One of them, located in the Plague Quarter, is the plague cauldron master himself, Heigan the Unclean! Blizzard said that while Mindpocalypse seems to be a nifty card that can help both players, Heigan might just have a trick up his sleeve. Additionally, his ability called Eruption allows for a cheap removal of all the nasty Leper Gnomes and Flame Imps out there. While it seems to be too strong, a good way to deal with it is to strategically position your minions, preferably putting the strongest (i.e. the one hardest to get rid of) or the least useful card at the left-most position of the gameboard, which will also have a new look. Also, defeating Heigan would provide you a new card, and completing each of the five wings would reward you with a new Legendary card. And what about class-specific cards? Well, Class Challenges will also be held, and each battle won would let you reap some new class-specific cards.

Moreover, Blizzard would like to clarify what "adventure mode" is, stating that it is a PVE (Player versus Environment) content for single player mode, wherein defeating bosses rewards players with new cards. Additionally, the Hearthstone team has yet to unveil exactly how much gold or real money is needed in order to get to play in each wing (except for the first one, the Arachnid Quarter, which is free). Moreover, Ben Brode noted that each wing is only a one-time buy, in contrast to Arena Mode which makes you pay 150 gold for every run. In terms of getting the new cards, he also said that going through the Adventure Mode is absolutely the only way possible to acquire the new cards for your collection, though they will also appear in your Arena runs. Moreover, the Deathrattle-themed Curse of Naxxramas will be released in summer.
