INTRODUCING: HEARTHSTONE STANDARD FORMAT IN PLAY MODE

Blizzard has recently announced that a new format in Play mode promises to keep players engaged, regardless if they are newbies or veteran Hearthstone players.

The Hearthstone Standard mode basically allows players to fight using just the most recent Hearthstone cards. 

Thus, in Standard mode, you will have to build a deck from cards that were released from the previous year up to the current year. Of course, the "core foundation of the Basic and Classic card sets" will always be applicable in Standard mode.

Reasons for creating the Hearthstone Standard mode:

1. The games will ideally be more dynamic and the metagame can be balanced.

2. The limited availability of cards in Standard mode makes new cards more interesting. 

3. It basically allows Hearthstone developers to create fun, innovative cards that might have otherwise been possibly deemed too weak for Play modes that allow all cards.

4. Finally, it allows new players to get in on the action even if they do not have a big collection.

Now that it's been confirmed, Hearthstone will basically be having the Standard format Magic: The Gathering players are very familiar about.

WHAT DOES "TOPDECKING" MEAN IN MTG/HEARTHSTONE?

The video posted above shows Day[9] battling it out with none other than Rob Simpson. Specifically, what we'll be seeing is how important the concept of "topdecking" is. So, what does it mean? Basically, it means drawing the the right card at the right time. Perhaps your opponent is down to three life points, and you draw a Lightning Strike on your turn. That's a topdeck.

Topdecking also doesn't mean drawing the card that will immediately kill your opponent, as it can mean drawing the card that will give you the utmost advantage. For example, drawing a Damnation when your opponent has played a ton of creatures.

As for Hearthstone it would be getting an Ysera when you're down to one life point, or drawing a Pyroblast when your opponent is down to ten life points.

NAXXRAMAS KEL'THUZAD: "EQUALITY" NOT ALLOWED

If Alexstrasza was immediately destroyed during the Plague Quarter of Curse of Naxxramas, Equality will not be tolerated by Kel'Thuzad. Hearthstone player Erath found this the hard way as he was battling against Baron Rivendare over at the Military Quarters. Once he cast Equality, Kel'Thuzad didn't allow it and nullified the card's effect.

AMAZ ALMOST LOSES TO JUGGLER

And so begins the ranked play of Amaz as he uses hunter while his rank 2 opponent, Veev, uses Zoolock. Knife Juggler has proven time and time again that it can spell victory or defeat for any player, and the same goes for Amaz. He was going to lose if the Juggler hit the right targets, especially with the ability going off again and again thanks to Void Terror being played, destroying the Harvest Golem beside it and allowing the deathrattle ability to play another minion for another Juggler ping.

BARON RIVENDARE COMBO: FORSEN UNLEASHES FOUR EARTH ELEMENTALS

Are you ready for Baron Rivendare? Forsen has just completed the Military Quarter of the Curse of Naxxramas adventure mode, and went immediately to playing Ranked. Against PAKOTxx, he played Shaman and unleashed two Baron Rivendares, although that actually isn't necessary because the effects do not stack. Take that in mind in order to avoid any misplays.

That of course didn't help his opponent though, as he was able to play four Earth Elementals. So how does one achieve this? Play two Earth Elementals, cast Ancestral Spirit on them, play Rivendare, and get the elementals killed. Once they die, their deathrattle abilities will trigger twice, giving you four big 7/8 taunt minions. Additionally, you can also play a single Earth Elemental and a Rivendare, cast Ancestral Spirit on the elemental, have it killed, and gain two Earth Elementals. Then you can use Ancestral Spirit again on one of them to have two more once it gets killed.

The easiest way though is this: Play Baron Rivendare and Earth Elemental. Use Ancestral Spirit on the latter and destroy it using Reincarnate which will trigger the deathrattle ability twice, although of course it itself returns to play with full health, giving you three 7/8s in total.

INTRODUCING: HEARTHSTONE DEATH KNIGHT CLASS

Note: This isn't official. This was made by famous Twitch streamer and LiquidHearth player Amaz. The likelihood of a Death Knight class is very high, though. Some have already noted that if you look at the game files, you can find the term "Death Knight". Additionally, it would seem probable that the Death Knight class would be followed by Monk, to follow the order of World of Warcraft expansions.

Here, Amaz introduces us to the the "Requiem" ability, which triggers whenever another friendly minion dies. Yes, it's kinda similar to Cult Master and Dark Cultist. Anyway, this cards mostly seem to be overpowered compared to the current lot of cards in Hearthstone right now, but they all present interesting mechanics, especially with how your cards interact with your opponent and his minions. Great art too.
