MIDRANGE PRIEST: Zetalot's Deck (Legend Rank #38 in EU)

Zetalot Midrange Priest

INTRODUCTION

Zetalot is a Legend Rank player, reaching as high as #18 through almost exclusively using his priest deck. It is a bit similar with Amaz's, but one notable difference is the inclusion of Prophet Velen. You can watch his stream here.

THE DECK

Zetalot Midrange Priest Deck

The decklist above was thankfully provided by PoeticStanziel over at HP.

The difference between Zetalot's deck and other priest decks is that it doesn't solely rely on dragging a game too long to win by fatigue. The deck has lots of Area-of-Effect (AoE) cards and some big finishers. Also, it costs 5060 dust.

THE COMBOS

Wild Pyromancer Priest

There are at least five great combos that you can have when you play the deck:

1. Auchenai Soulpriest + Circle of Healing

Playing Auchenia would make all your "heal" cards into "damage" cards, so using the 0 mana Circle of Healing is like having a free Flamestrike.

2. Wild Pyromancer + Power Word: Shield + other spells

More AoE would happen if you cast PW:Shield on the Pyromancer because now, it wouldn't die after you cast two spells. This means that you can kill off every other minion that has at most four health, not to mention the advantage you gain from playing other cheap spells while dealing one damage to each minion each time.

3. Wild Pyromancer + Holy Nova

If you have Pyro in play, you can cast Holy Nova and instead of two damage to each of your opponent's minions, you'd be dealing three. Aside from that, even if your Pyro is dealt one damage himself because of the ability, Holy Nova gets his life back upp.

4. Northshire Cleric + Circle of Healing

This is possibly one of the keys to a massive card advantage. Just get some minions in the red, and then cast Northshire for 1 mana, cast CoH, and you'd be drawing cards again and again. This works best when Wild Pyromancer is also in play, securing every minion in the red.

5. Injured Blademaster + Circle of Healing

Having these two cards by turn three basically ensures that you get a 4/7 that early.

WINNING COMBOS

Prophet Velen Hearthstone

There are at least two deadly combos in this deck. One is casting Prophet Velen and spending two mana on a Mindblast that would deal 10 damage. Additionally, there's Holy Fire + Mindblast for 10 damage and a five-point heal. And of course, your Holy Smite will deal four damage for one mana instead of two with Velen in play.

MULLIGANS

You would ideally want to keep in your opening hand the cards that can ensure you early board control. This would of course include Northshire Cleric. In addition, you can keep Circle of Healing to have some card-draw combo with the Cleric or keep it for a board-clear in the long run.

TECH CARD

Sunfury Protector Hearthstone

It has been said that Zetalot sometimes replaces Sunfury Protector with The Black Knight. Sunfury works best when you're dealing with a lot of aggro and rush decks, while TBK is great against control decks that have big minions with taunt to slow down the game. Keep in mind that Sunfury Protector is the tech card in the game, meaning it should be changed to adapt to the meta. If you're against heroes that uses weapons alot (such as Hunter, Rogue, and Warrior), you can replace it with Acidic Swamp Ooze. If you're battling against a lot of Zoolock and Aggro Paladins that have a lot of minions with Divine Shield, you can substitute it with Blood Knight.

Another tech card in the deck is Cabal Shadow Priest that works best against aggro and rush decks. If you're facing more control than aggro, it would be better to replace it with either Big Game Hunter or Ragnaros the Firelord.

Finally, if you don't have Velen, you can try the deck with a Malygos.
